Can I collect my campervan in one city in Ireland and return it to another?

Yes, you can collect your campervan in one Irish city, and return it elsewhere. There are a minimum number of days that you must pay for. It takes slightly longer to process a one-way booking request. There are sometimes re-location fees added to the cost of the rental.

What is the insurance excess when renting a campervan in Ireland?

The insurance excess is between £1500.00 and £2000.00 in Northern Ireland and up to €2600.00 in Southern Ireland. This means that if any damage occurs to the vehicle then you have to pay for this up to a maximum of the security deposit.

You will need to have a credit card to cover the insurance excess. Check that the credit limit on your card is more than €2600.00. €2600.00 will be deducted from your credit card when you collect the campervan. This will be refunded when you return the campervan in a good and clean condition to the correct location at the agreed time.

How old do I have to be to rent a campervan or motorhome in Ireland?

The minimum age for a driver is 21 years old and the maximum is 75 years old, in Ireland. Check the terms and conditions before you book as you have to be 25 or older to drive some of the larger motorhomes.

Is free camping or wild camping allowed in Ireland?

Check with the locals but we have heard that in the more remote places in Ireland it is tolerated. However, leave no trace. Make sure you clean up so that it is as if you have never been there. This will help keep the friendly relationship that campervan renters have with the locals.

Can I rent bikes with my campervan or motorhome in Ireland?

Yes you can rent bicycles and a bike rack with your hire in Ireland. Please pre-order these so that the depot can get them ready for your arrival.

Where should we travel in Ireland in our campervan?

Belfast and Dublin are great places to visit via campervan. Have a basic plan but allow time to stay a little longer in some places and divert to others. There is a host of information online. Start with Visit Ireland - official tourist website.

We also suggest taking maps and guidebook and to not rely totally on GPS or your mobile phone for directions. By all means use them to complement the map. You never know if you are going to lose signal or power.
